Butler Community College

Butler Community College was established in 1927 as El Dorado Junior College. It was created to provide affordable higher education and vocational training for residents of Butler County, Kansas. The institution later adopted the name Butler County Community Junior College before becoming Butler Community College as it expanded its academic programs and regional services.

The main campus is located in El Dorado, Kansas, and includes academic buildings, laboratories, libraries, student housing, athletic facilities, and technical education centers. Butler Community College also operates additional campuses and service centers in Andover, Wichita, Marion, and McConnell Air Force Base, providing educational access throughout south central Kansas.

The college is governed by an elected Board of Trustees responsible for institutional policy and strategic planning. A president serves as the chief executive officer and oversees academic affairs, financial management, workforce development, and administrative operations. Academic and administrative departments work together to support student success and community partnerships.

Butler Community College offers associate degrees, certificate programs, and workforce training across disciplines including business, health sciences, agriculture, engineering technology, information technology, liberal arts, public safety, and skilled trades. The college also maintains transfer agreements with many four-year universities, allowing students to continue their education toward bachelor's degrees.
