University of Houston

The University of Houston was founded in 1927 as Houston Junior College. It became a four-year university in 1934 and joined the state system in 1963. It later developed into a major public research university and one of the largest institutions in Texas.

The main campus is located in southeast Houston and includes academic buildings, research centers, residence halls, libraries, and athletic facilities. The university also operates additional sites and specialized facilities across the Houston metropolitan area.
