University of Massachusetts Lowell

The University of Massachusetts Lowell was established in 1894 through the founding of two separate institutions, Lowell Normal School and Lowell Textile School. These institutions later evolved into Lowell State College and Lowell Technological Institute before merging in 1975 to form the University of Lowell. In 1991, the university joined the University of Massachusetts system and adopted its current name. Since then, it has expanded its academic programs, research activity, and regional impact.

The university operates three primary campuses in Lowell, Massachusetts: North Campus, South Campus, and East Campus.
