Yonsei University traces its origins to 1885 with the establishment of Gwanghyewon, the first modern hospital in Korea, and to Yonhi College founded in 1915. In 1957, Yonhi College and Severance Union Medical College merged to form Yonsei University. Over time, the university expanded its academic programs and research capacity, becoming one of South Korea’s leading private universities.
